Must visit places while in Arusha City

Arusha is among the most attractive and must visit place not only to Tanzanians but also to Africans and the rest of the world. For quite a long time Arusha has been the hub of tourist attractions due to its closeness to the Mount Kilimanjaro and Serengeti National Park. Apart from that, also the city has been busy in terms of political activities such as by being the Headquarter of the East African Community.

Another interesting thing is its cool weather condition compared to other areas across Tanzania. But, Jumia Travel believes that most people are not aware that there are a lot of activities to do while in the city apart from visiting tourist attractions. Below are some of the things to do while you are on the streets of Arusha city that would make your visit a memorable one.

Arusha Declaration Monument. Just like other parts of the world, there must be landmarks that identify the places. That is same to the Arusha Declaration Monument that is the identity of the city. For Arusha, the monument is the most significant symbol of the city as well as the tourist attraction. Historically, the monument was unveiled by the ruling political party back in 1977 to commemorate ten years of the Arusha Declaration. The monument is located at the center of Makongoro road at the roundabout.

The Clock Tower. This is the place that most travellers are likely to visit and take photos so as to let their colleagues that are in or have been in Arusha. The Clock Tower is situated in the center of the road in City Center. The tower was built in 1950’s, and according to the urban legend, the place is the central point between Cape Town (South Africa) and Cairo (Egypt).                

Cultural Heritage Center. Out of the town, Arusha-Dodoma road lies a centre that combines a museum, restaurant, spice centre and shop. While wandering in that place you can observe, learn and purchase various art products. The place is famous for many years back as different popular figures being there such as the former President of US, Bill Clinton, and his daughter, Chelsea.

The Old Boma Museum. Germans, the then colonial administrators of this place built this their fort in the 1900s. The place is still present and strong until today whereby there are houses as the historical museums. It is important to visit this place as you will get see it and learn its history.

Meserani Snake Park. While visiting this park in the city you will get an opportunity to observe various kinds of snakes and wild animals. The place has got almost 50 snake species available in different areas of eastern and southern Africa. In the same place, there is also the Maasai Cultural Museum, restaurant and cultural shop for various activities.

Tanzanite shops. Tanzania is the only country that is producing Tanzanite, the beautiful blue-violet gems. And Arusha is the only place in the country that is rich in minerals. Therefore, it could be awesome while you are in the city to wander around some shops, do a window shopping, you never what you might find something interesting for your beloved ones.
