There is nothing irritating than being out with a family or friends and noticing that everyone is facing down his/her phones’ screen! The invasion of internet is the main reason for most people spending much of their time on their phones, rather than interacting with colleagues or enjoying the surroundings.
Lots of researches conducted on this field have identified that much time spent on the internet is unhealthy both physically and mentally. Apart from several advantages it has into our lives, Jumia Travel informs that you might experience the following if you are not careful on the internet usage.
Internet might make you feel bad, unhappy and jealous. Things which you see on your social media networks posted by your friends or celebrities might be the reason for your unhappiness. Imagine how you would feel seeing your friend post photos of places he/she has travelled or foods which you had never eaten? Even though not all people usually feel bad or sad on what is going on social media, some are left depressed after discovering they might not be able to achieve all those stuffs.
Internet is the reason why most people feel outdated. The world we are living now has evolved in different life styles. Unfortunately, not all people can afford to adapt to the changes the world is experiencing. The situation has become worse when people start to share everything they do on internet such as status, photos and videos. Some people feel they are missing out on those moments especially when they see the posts. But people should keep in their minds that not all that happens on social media is the reality.
Internet makes people fail to concentrate on important tasks. I am quite sure most people are experiencing the situation especially in this world which everything is run by the internet. That is, there is a moment when you try to concentrate on something very important but you receive tons of notifications from your smartphone. For instance, when you are trying to complete a task you have been assigned by your boss but messages and notifications from Whatsapp, Facebook, Twitter or Instagram keeps coming in. And funny enough, all needs your attention and response. With all those distractions there are little chances of effectiveness and productivity on whatever one might be doing.
Internet deprives people opportunities to be ‘alive’ and enjoy the surroundings. Nowadays, it is not surprising to find a family having a lunch or dinner at a hotel but all the members are busy on their phone screens. Things have changed, it is very rare to find family members talk, exchange jokes and laugh together as it used to be before during different gatherings. A few years back, family meals were used for family members to catch up together with what they have been doing the whole day. Only few families still do those stuffs but most of them have been replaced by smartphones. Don’t be surprised to find people talk, smile or laugh by themselves.
Internet has reduced people’s productivity and instead turned them into being consumers of content on it. Try to imagine how you could access all the videos on YouTube, information on Facebook or Twitter and photos on Instagram if the founders wouldn’t be busy working on new ideas? This means that we are not supposed to be more of consumers rather than be creative on new stuffs. The internet has retarded some people’s minds, that is most of them wasting much of their time on internet instead of being productive somewhere else.
Issues discussed in this article to some extent are the reality of people’s lives living at the moment. But that doesn’t mean you can’t escape this situation, Jumia Travel suggests that the decision to overcome the internet addiction starts from within. For example, to decide at what time to spend time on internet, to turn off notifications from social media networks or turn off data for a reasonable period of time.
