HALOTEL TANZANIA SCOOPS INTERNATIONAL STEVIE AWARDS 2017


The organizers of the International Business Awards (Stevie Awards 2017) has recognized Viettel Tanzania PLC (Trading as Halotel Tanzania) as The "Fastest Growing Enterprise in the Middle East and Africa".  This is the first time Viettel Tanzania has been recognized at a prestigious international award for its record growth.
In less than 3 months since the service was launched in October 2015, Halotel has had registered 1 million customers, and after 9 months reached up to 2 million. This is the fastest customer growth rate among all markets (both Vietnam and internationally), in the Middle East, Sahara and East Africa, where Viettel Group has invested and also the record growth of customers that few telecom carriers the world achieved in the first year of service delivery.
This has also helped Halotel 2016 win the "Tanzania Leadership Award 2016" with two categories of "Fastest Growing Business of the Year" and "Enterprise of the Year" by Purple Cow Media. Limited - the largest enterprise assessment organization in Tanzania.

Halotel is one of the fastest growing telecommunications companies in Tanzania, Halotel has more than 3.5 million customers, ranking the fourth among eight telecoms operators in Tanzania, surpassing those in the top 10.


According to the Tanzania Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TCRA), in July and August of each year, Halotel's subscriber growth was unexpected, accounting for 50% of the 427,500 subscribers entering the market. The introduction of the new Halotel name in Tanzania is further illustrated by the fact that the country has adopted the digital diversion policy since March 2017.

Halotel has built the largest telecommunications infrastructure in Tanzania in just nine months, with 2,500 BTS and 18,000 km of fiber optic cables, covering 90% of its population. The company is also the first company to provide mobile broadband connections to more than 3,000 villages in Tanzania, which have never been connected to the Internet or mobile telecommunications before.
Tanzania is currently the largest market with 55 million people and is the largest invested company in Africa reaching to about $ 800 million done by Viettel Group. Prior to providing the service, Viettel's Tanzania project was rated "the best investment project of 2014 in East, West and Central Africa" ??at the Global Investors Conference 2015.
In addition to its strong infrastructure and business strategy, Halotel has a special application that accelerates the growth of its subscriber base. Accordingly, Halotel offers an application for registering personal information on a smartphone named MBCCS for sellers. Thanks to this application, sellers can take pictures of sim shoppers, get signatures and register personal information anywhere, and always update to the system of Halotel (in Africa requires the owner). They must be photographed and signed directly on the registration leaflet.
Commenting on the achievements, when receiving the awards, the Deputy Managing Director of Halotel Tanzania Mr. Nguyen Van Son, said this success are all possible because of the better investment environment created by Tanzania Government.

Michelle Galler, the representative of the Stevie Awards 2017, said: "Since its first appearance, Viettel has always been a company with different products and campaigns. Viettel's subsidiaries in the African market are thriving. " At the Stevie Awards 2017, Viettel set a new record with 5 gold medals and 4 silver medals. The Gold Award is given to Viettel's YouTube Package (deployed in Cambodia, Peru and Tanzania) in the "Best New Media Entertainment Product of the Year" category. Over 1 million registered users in Cambodia, Peru and Tanzania. The package has created a breakthrough in the use of smartphone entertainment in these three countries, saving users from 40% to 80% when using data. The four silver awards that Viettel was honored at the Stevie Awards 2017 include: "The fastest growing Middle East and Africa" ??- Halotel (Viettel Tanzania); "Marketing Campaign of the Year" with Bitel ("Hero of Silence") (Viettel Peru); "Customer service of the year" with My Viettel application (Viettel Telecom in Vietnam); and "Best New Telecoms Product of the Year" with Telecom Security Solutions (Viettel Telecom in Vietnam).


The International Business Awards (Stevie Awards) is one of the world's leading annual awards to honor the achievements and positive contributions of businesses and individuals worldwide to the benefits. the community, including IT and telecommunications. To be honored, candidates will have to persuade 200 judges to be CEOs, world-renowned entrepreneurs. The name "Stevie" comes from Greek means to be crowned.
