The popular sports and entertainment newspaper in Tanzania, Mwanaspoti, published by Mwananchi Communications Limited (MCL) has launched a special promotion titled Win Ticket with ‘Zali la Mwanaspoti’
Speaking to journalists in Dar es Salaam, MCL Managing Editor, Bakari Machumu, said that, the promotion aimed to reward consumers, who are mostly sports and entertainments followers by winning various prizes.
According to Machumu, ‘Zali la Mwanaspoti’ promotion would cost Tsh. 300,000,000.
The promotion is preceded by the recently rebranded of Mwanaspoti newspaper which widely highlighted sports & entertainment news. The rebranded considered general look, improvement of analytical columns, and profiles for local and international figures.
According to Machumu, the intention of MCL was to make sure that, its readers are getting best and current stories that had been narrated deeply. Mwanaspoti newspaper is also sold in Kenya.
Winners’ prizes would comprise in daily prizes, weekly and grand prizes.
Daily prize includes t-shirts and footballs, sportswear from English Premier League (EPL). Weekly prizes comprise of Azam TV decoder with one month package, motorcycles, mobile phones and eight winners who will travel to England to watch the big matches in EPL.
The overall winner during the grand promotion will be able to choose one of his/her friend for England tour.
Weekly draws will be aired every Wednesday through Azam TV during the Mshike Mshike sports programme.
One of the sponsors Abbas Tarimba briefed that, the aim was to create awareness among Tanzanians of loving sports.
“First of all, I would like to acknowledge the management of Mwananchi Communications Limited for being innovative in publications. A good example is Mwananchi, Mwanaspoti and The Citizen.
“When they asked our sponsorship for this promotion, we were very positive. I am sure the prizes to give would support winners with different needs. We have motorcycles, TV, mobile phones, footballs and many other.

The Marketing officer from Azam TV, who are the co-sponsors, John Mbelle said that their sponsorship aimed to give more opportunity for Tanzanians to watch different sports aired by Azam TV.
“We are providing our decoders with special packages to the winners. This means, from there a winner will automatically start to watch our programs immediately. The offer runs for one month,” he said.
The promotion will run for eight weeks consecutively countrywide Readers will have to buy Mwanaspoti newspaper, cutting the coupon, register with Sportpesa betting by sending the word GAME to 15888 and fill out the required credential including the bet ID.
Finally, the coupons will be delivered to the nearest newspaper vendors or Total petrol stations across the country.
The qualified coupons will be selected for draw, under the supervision of National Gaming Board.
Machumu urged Tanzanians to use such opportunity, adding that the first draw would be held after two weeks. “This is the only opportunity in which Tanzanians should be proud of. Our draws should start this October under the supervision of the National Gaming Board,” he said.
