Zantel customers are now set to enjoy enhanced services with high-quality calls and experience the best data quality from the company. Recently Zantel reported the near completion of the modernization of its network living up to their promise of delivering innovative telecommunication solutions that have continued to change the lives of millions of people in Tanzania.
“We started the network modernization in September 2016 with the aim of fully completed in June 2017 but the heavy rains delayed us in completing on time. The process of upgrading our network in Zanzibar and the mainland is now near its completion and we are happy to say that our customers have already started enjoying the benefits of high-quality calls and high-speed data services with Zantel. The network upgrade has strengthened our network quality, unmatched coverage and access to the fastest internet services available in the market today on our new 4G network," Larry Arthur, Zantel Chief Technical and Information Officer said.
The upgrading of all sites covering Urban West Region of Unguja and Pemba has been completed as part of phase 1 of the network modernization.
After completion of this phase, the next phase will be the modernization of the Zantel infrastructure in North and South of Unguja. The second phase is expected to be completed by the end of the year and once it is completed the whole of Zanzibar will experience the best internet and call quality.
The whole project is worth more than $ 10M, It has seen a complete swap out of all sites in Zanzibar with new state of the art technology and in the Mainland, partnerships have been implemented to ensure that Zantel’s network coverage is one of the largest in the country. This means that Zantel is able to offer the best voice and data experience to its users, with a network covering more than 85 percent of Tanzania’s population, and access to the fastest internet services available in the market with its new 4G network.
“While we are working to complete the remaining parts of Unguja, continuous monitoring of the quality after the upgrade, and the feedback we get from our customers through our communication channels and the Call Center have tremendously helped to improve network quality and overall data experience further,” he said.
