By Jumia Travel Tanzania

Among the things Tanzania has been blessed with is having huge lands reserved as national parks with thousands of wildlife and breathtaking scenic views. Tanzania has reserved more than 42,000 kilometer squares as the national parks across the country.

If you didn’t know, Tanzania has 16 reserved and protected national parks throughout the country categorized into four zones namely; Northern Zone (this includes Arusha, Mkomazi, Mlima Kilimanjaro, Ziwa Manyara, Serengeti, and Tarangire National Parks), Western Zone (including Gombe, Katavi, Mahale, Rubondo and Saanane National Parks), Southern Zone (including Kitulo, Mikumi, Ruaha and Udzungwa National Parks), and Eastern Zone (including Saadani National Park).

It is very strange to know that most people know those places but have no idea how to reach and explore them. Jumia Travel has presents a ‘safari guide’ for both first time and seasoned travel lovers.

When to go. It is advised to research on what time is suitable to go for a safari. This will save you a big time because you might go unprepared and find out that the weather is terrible or animals that you wanted to see are not there during that particular season. Take your time to research or communicate with tour and safari agents available or browse on various websites if possible. For example, June to October is the perfect timing to see wildebeest migration at Serengeti. Months of June to February are better for climbing Mt. Meru while from December to February will give you a great view of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Where to stay. Since you are planning to go for a safari, it will be perfect to pick for a hotel that will provide you with beautiful view and see animals easily. Thanks to advance in technology facilities such as communications and internet network because within a short time, wherever and whenever you are, you can know where you are going to stay. In this case, Lake Duluti Hotel would a perfect choice for you. This hotel will provide you with a great view of Lake Duluti, located at the gateway to national parks on northern circuit and features services such as a restaurant, library and business lounge. In addition to that, it is also just a few kilometers away from Arusha town and the Kilimanjaro International Airport.

Items to pack. You should know what to pack during planning for a safari. Otherwise you might find yourself packing items that you won’t need or being not able to travel with especially at airport. First of all, you don’t need a huge luggage during a safari. Just a few clothes, a camera and binoculars can make your trip a memorable one. Most of the items you’ll find at a hotel because they know what their guests need. For instance, Crater Forest Tented Camp located on a highland coffee plantation, directly bordering the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area would provide you with all you need plus a great view.

What to do. In order to enjoy and accomplish what you have planned to do during a safari, you have to adhere and follow a given timetable. This means that, there will be a timetable to guide you on what to do from a time to sleep, wake up, have a breakfast and tour in the national parks. Working on those areas need experience, for instance, since somebody has told you that if you visit Gombe National Parks you will see chimpanzees, it doesn’t mean you are going to find them wandering around as you wish. There is timing and a reasonable distance to walk to see them.

How to get there. To a greater extent most of the national parks in Tanzania are accessible easily via different means of transport such as commuter buses, private transport or by flight. In addition to that, apart from identifying a kind of transport that will take you there but also you have to be aware of various charges that you’ll incur to enter and tour around the parks, it’s not that expensive though. It’s better to conduct a thorough research before, contact the tour guides or visit various websites such the Tanzania Tourist Board for more information.

Apart from the tips above, try to take your time to visit various sources of information or ask your colleagues who have done it before. Taking into consideration that the festive season is around the corner, it will be very smart to start looking for places to visit and offers available. In the meantime, Jumia Travel will continue providing you with more information about the destinations and better deals available.
