If you have already been on a flight, you must be aware of what to pack in your luggage and what you should not. And if you have not been lucky enough or you’re expecting to do so soon, then there are a couple of procedures to be observed in order to avoid inconveniences from the security guys or airline company.
Usually, most Tanzanians use buses as their means of transport to travel to various regions of the country where there is almost no extensive check-up apart from passenger’s ticket. Since the aviation sector is drastically growing in the country, Jumia Travel shares some rules and regulations which passengers should adhere to before boarding the plane.
Sharp objects. It is strictly prohibited to pack-in your bag sharp objects such as knives, blade razors, scissors, swords or screwdrivers unless you put them in a separately checked luggage. In order to avoid further complications which might cause you to delay or miss your flight, it’s better to contact your airline company for advice.
Firearms. For security purposes, most countries don’t allow passengers to carry firearms with them even if it would be a matter of personal defense. But there are some countries that allow their citizens to do so but under recommended documents.
Explosives. There are some products we consume can explode easily but we have no idea. Products such as body sprays and lighters are some of them which when exposed to fire sources can cause remarkable explosions. In most cases, people don’t read the signs on them or their ingredients. Therefore, make sure you don’t carry them with on your way to airport otherwise you will end up leaving them behind at security checkpoint.
Sporting equipment. Some of the sporting equipment are considered as weapons. For instances, lacrosse sticks, baseball and cricket bats, golf clubs, pool cues, bows, and arrows. If you are going to participate in a certain sport and you have to travel with your stuff it's better to let your travel agent know about it so that they could be checked separately.
Tools. You might be a good artisan having customers in different places who will be able to pay for your flight ticket to get your service. One thing you should know is that your tools such as hatchets, crowbars, hammers, axes, saws or drills have no room on a plane. There is always a way, just prior to your flight contact the airline company for procedures which most of the time there are some additional costs you will incur.
Human medicine. There are some moments you are sick but still needed to travel. In situations like this make sure you get a written document or permit from a doctor indicating your medications and kind of medications to carry. And in order to get assurance just don’t hesitate to contact your local travel agent for further instructions.
Liquids. You might be surprised that you will not be allowed to board a plane with a drinking water. But there are some countries allow passengers to pack-in a specific amount and must be checked. In this category, medication and breast milk are exempt but they must be declared at the security checkpoint.
Marijuana. Tanzania is among the most countries which strictly prohibit the consumption of marijuana. Therefore, by being found possessing or using them you will be accountable to established laws. There are some countries provide permission to their citizen to consume but not on this land so beware of that.
Normally, it’s very rare to find a passenger carrying these items in their bags while traveling. Unless there is need to do that, kindly ask for the procedure since you might miss or delay a flight or find yourself apprehended by security officers. It is advised that you be extra-careful with the stuff you carry to the airport.
